Reading Central Library will be open in its new home at the Civic Centre, Bridge Street, from Thursday 18 June.
As a valued library user, we want to let you know library services will be unavailable from Central Library, Kings Road from Monday 11 May while we move to our brand-new home at the Civic Offices, Bridge Street, RG1 2LU. The new Central Library will open at 0900 on Thursday 18 June 2026.
During this time, you can continue to use any of the borough libraries. Our library app remains available for eBooks and audio books. Items can be returned to any library and no fines are charged. Click here for more information.
Temporary changes to reservations
In preparation for the move, Selms reservations will be unavailable from Thursday 9th April. Stock held at Reading Central Library will be unavailable for reservation from Friday 1st May. Selms and Central Library stock will be made available for reservations again once we reopen.
