James Franco stars in this survival drama directed by Danny Boyle. Telling no one of his plans, Aron Ralston (Franco) sets out on a solo hike in Utah's vast Canyonlands National Park. However, soon after crossing paths with fellow hikers Kristi (Kate Mara) and Megan (Amber Tamblyn), Ralston becomes trapped in a remote slot canyon when a falling boulder pins his arm. Over the following days, with no one close enough to hear his calls for help, Ralston undergoes a gruelling fight for survival.
