The king invites a young boy to Culann's house. But, he forgets to inform his host that they'll have an extra visitor, and the boy is attacked by the guard dog - which he fights and kills. He offers to guard the house and its grounds until another dog is found. The king gives him the name Cuchulainn, the Hound of Ulster.
