Grand summer fete in the abbey ruins and Forbury Pleasure Gardens, Reading (by permissionof the worshipful the mayor), on Monday, July 11th, 1859 / The gate will be opened at three o'clock. The nobility, clergy, gentry, and the public generally of Readingg and the adjacent counties are respectfully informed that a grand musical and pyrotechnical fete will be given in the above beautiful grounds to assist the fund for purchasing the remaining portion of the ruins. The orchestra will be erected in the ground recently purchased, which part will be arranged to accomodate 5,000 persons.
