Twenty-five uniformed park keepers, photographed in front of the bandstand in the Forbury Gardens, Reading, c. 1950. Several of them wear medal ribbons. The superintendent, Mr. Glenister, is seated in the middle of the front row, wearing a trilby hat. Horace Kendall is fifth from left in the back row, the tallest man in the row. He was at Balmore Walk, Caversham, and then at Prospect Park. In the middle row, fifth from left and standing in front of Mr. Kendall, is Mr. Avery from Coley Recreation Ground. To the right of Mr. Glenister in the front row is Mr. Bates from Prospect Park. The man second from right in the front row was park keeper at Forbury Gardens. The bandstand has electric lights, and cables and lamp-holders for fairy lights. 1950-1959
