John ("Jack") Sharp in the uniform of the Machine Gun Corps, taken in a photographer's studio in France c. 1917. He had been brought up in Bath Road, Taplow, and had attended the County Boys' School, Maidenhead. Later in the First World War he was wounded, but recovered, and became an engineer. He was apprenticed to G. D. Peters and Company of Slough. For a time he worked for Pressed Steel at Theale, before moving to the Northampton area. 1910-1919
