"Jack" Sharp was born in 1899, and brought up in Taplow. He attended the County Boys' School, Maidenhead. During the First World War he served in the Machine Gun Corps, and was wounded. He recovered and became an engineer. He was apprenticed to G. D. Peters and Company of Slough. He married Winifred Hancock. For a time he worked for Pressed Steel at Theale, before moving to the Northampton area. 1930-1939
