Licence plate, with the wording: "County Council of Berkshire. License No. 95. . . to . . " Careful inspection shows the dates to have been "16.1.03 to 15.1.04." The plate is oval, measuring about 6 inches by 9 inches, with two holes to take screws or bolts, and is made of some kind of copper alloy. The plate had been found in a garage in South Oxfordshire. An article in the "Reading Chronicle, " 5 October 2006, and at the Berkshire Record Office, failed to elicit what was being licensed - probably a steam road locomotive
