The old bank building, No. 18, is to the left, and to the right is No. 15, with signs for the White Cross Insurance Company, Phil Mayo (fancy goods), Sally's Cafe, and A. G. Morum (chemist). The entrance to the Harris Arcade is between the fancy goods shop and the chemist's. A motor car and a lorry are parked at the kerb. 1950-1959 : the photograph appears in "Reading in the News" by Sue Read, page 49, and is stamped on the reverse, "Reading Museum Service."
