On the east side, No. 12 (Morris and Davis, tailors, with awning over the pavement); Nos. 11, 10 and 9 (Sutton and Sons, Royal Seed Establishment); No. 7 ("Reading Mercury" newspaper office). Most of the Simeon obelisk is obscured by the cabmen's shelter. The market appears to be in progress, with various barrows, stalls and carts in evidence. 1900-1909 : postcard with caption, "Market Place, Reading."
